La Vieille Ferme Rouge 2018
The 2018 vintage is characterised by exceptional weather conditions. The rather mild winter made it possible to prune the vineyard following the lunar calendar - according to the principles of biodynamics - favouring a balanced vegetation. Flowering took place in the best possible conditions, with a historically abundant grape output. A few rainy episodes at the end of the spring complicated things a little with an attack of mildew, but the good weather then settled down until harvest, which took place under idyllic conditions, making it possible to harvest each plot at perfect maturity between August 22nd and October 5th. The wines are beautiful, great typicity for each terroir.
The Perrin Family, also owners of the famous Château de Beaucastel, search for the most suitable terroirs to produce a fresh and fruity wine. Unpretentious, this is the archetypal pleasure wine. Authentic, genuine and tasty.
This is adapted to suit each wine, grape variety and producer. Nearly all the grapes are lightly crushed and fermented in cement vats of 150 and 300 hectolitres. The fermentation is classic and extended. The wine is kept in both vats and large oak barrels for ten months, then bottled in July.
Nice nose with notes of red fruit and Morello cherries. Very fresh, with soft tannins, it offers a nice balance and great complexity in the mouth and a long finish.
17°C with a spontaneous meal and for enjoyment.
