La Vieille Ferme Rouge 2024
Lu dans la presse
Even before they made boxed wine, they made my favorite cheap and cheerful, excellent porch pounder wines in glass bottles. With more than a century of experience, the Famille Perrin has certainly perfected their process, whether it be their white, rosé, or red. The blends allow them to keep the wine consistent and value-driven.

Pretty purple colour with shiny reflections. The nose reveals a seductive bouquet of red fruit and spices. Full of delicacy, the palate is full of freshness and well balanced, with aromas of cherries and very soft tannins, giving this wine great drinkability.
The vintage
Despite climatic challenges throughout the year requiring constant vigilance and considerable work in the vineyard, the 2024 vintage looks very promising. The harvest began on August 2nd, and the last grapes were picked on October 3rd. Each vineyard was harvested at perfect maturity, with grapes that were both balanced and expressive. The work in the vineyards was demanding, but the efforts made should result in wines of high quality. The first tastings reveal wines with a very good balance, combining fruitiness, tension and finesse. With optimal phenolic maturity, supported by good acidity, they also reveal great freshness and a beautiful structure. Promising qualities for this 2024 vintage which should stand out for its aromatic richness and its aging capacity.
Ageing
Each grape variety is harvested and vinified separately in order to respect the maturity of each varietal. The harvest date is determined by analysis and tasting the berries. Upon arrival in the cellar, the grapes are destemmed and crushed. The extraction is done during fermentation in cement tanks with pumping over.
Serving
17°C with a spontaneous meal and for enjoyment.
Tasting
Beautiful, deep purple-red colour, clear and shiny, showing great concentration. The nose opens up truthfully with a rich and very aromatic expression: a real explosion of red fruit, carried by notes of blackcurrant syrup, crushed strawberries, and small berries. A perfect balance between freshness and indulgence, the palate extends these easy-drinking aromas, revealing pure, crisp, and expressive fruit, supported by a beautiful freshness and a velvety texture with fine, well-integrated tannins. An accessible and charming expression of Syrah.
